Earlier this month, several MedPAC staff participated in the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting in Baltimore, MD. Participation in the conference helps MedPAC engage with the broader research community and keep abreast of the latest research in the health policy field. Staff also presented some of MedPAC’s work at the conference as part of the Commission’s effort to make its work transparent and available to the public.
Five analysts presented work that the Commission has conducted over the past year:
- Betty Fout and Pamina Mejia presented an analysis entitled “Who Is Affected By Medicare’s Coverage Limit on Psychiatric Hospitalizations?” at the Medicare poster session. The abstract can be found on the conference website here and the poster can be found on MedPAC’s website here. The Commission discussed this at MedPAC’s March 2024 public meeting.
- Stuart Hammond and Jeff Stensland presented an analysis entitled “Differences in Hospital Use between Medicare Advantage and Fee-for-Service Patients: Implications for Hospitals’ Costs” in the session “Medicare Advantage Versus Traditional Medicare.” The abstract can be found on the conference website here and the presentation can be found on MedPAC’s website here. The Commission discussed this work at MedPAC’s March 2024 public meeting.
- Ledia Tabor presented MedPAC’s work on telehealth in the policy roundtable session “Medicare and Telehealth: Assessing the Current State of Evidence and Shaping Future Policies.” The presentation can be found on MedPAC’s website here. The Commission discussed this work at MedPAC’s April 2024 public meeting.
Karen Stockley also participated in the conference as the chair of the session “Medicare Advantage and Access to Care Among Vulnerable Populations”.
